Weekend Seminar 2011 moved to new venue

Nobel-prize winning former vice-president of the United States Al Gore is coming to Jyväskylä to speak in the Weekend Seminar on environmental responsibility and business ethics. The seminar has been received with unprecedented enthusiasm: all 1230 tickets were sold out last week, over six months prior to the event. After careful consideration, a new larger auditorium in the Paviljonki Areena has been booked, allowing for more participants to gain tickets.

”A lot of work has gone into this seminar and its marketing. The fact that the seminar sold out already at the beginning of March, six months before the event, was a nice surprise. It has presented us with a problem that we are very happy to solve”, says Hans-Peter Siefen, who is responsible for events at the Finnish Community of Entrepreneurship.

”Moving the event from the Wilhelm-auditorium to the Paviljonki Areena was not undertaken lightly. We focus on the comfort and experience of our guests. We came to the conclusion that the newly renovated premises at Paviljonki Areena provide quality unrivalled in Finland for an even bigger event than originally planned. We can now provide an exceptional experience for our guests, in which the networking and logistics are well supported by the surroundings. It’s also great that we are able to accommodate a larger audience, including interesting international participants”, says the CEO of the Finnish Community of Entrepreneurship,Jyri Lindén.

The two-day seminar has an impressive selection of speakers. The list includes the U.S. Ambassador to Finland Bruce Oreck, Professor Pekka Himanen, the Professor of Innovation at Åbo Akademi Alf Rehn, MEP Eija-Riitta Korhola, Anssi Vanjoki, founder of Trainer’s House Jari Sarasvuo, CEO of Kemira Oyj Harri Kerminen, Professor in Arctic Global Change Atte Korhola, Director of Sustainable Business Solutions at PriceWaterhouseCoopers Oy Sirpa Juutinen, the ministers Mauri Pekkarinen and Alexander Stubb, and last, but not least, Les Brown. Les Brown is a business coach and a well-known author, and one of the top five speakers in the world voted by Toastmasters International. This will be the first opportunity ever to see Les Brown in Finland.

The partners of the seminar are Toyota, the City of Jyväskylä, TeliaSonera, Blue Saga, Energiapankki, Kemira, Varapuu, JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Vapo, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Nordea.
