Sheena Iyengar – Leading Expert on the Study of Choice
Researcher, author, and professor Sheena Iyengar explores the challenges humans face in a world where they are inundated with options. She leverages neurological and cognitive science to generate, identify, and cultivate innovation in organizations. Her first book, “The Art of Choosing,” was named to the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award in 2010, and was ranked #3 on the Amazon.com Best Business and Investing Books of 2010. Currently, Sheena is working on a new book that examines how we understand identity and define what it means to be authentic in a technologically-advanced world.
Sheena also sits on the Board of Advisors for Celectiv, a startup that uses new tools in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to optimize the hiring decision-making process towards candidates that are both highly qualified and also ideally suited to organizational culture, which results in not only better hires but less turnover.
In addition to her research and teaching at Columbia Business School, Sheena frequently speaks to Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, government bodies, and medical institutions around the world. Collectively, her TED talks have received more than five million views.
Think Bigger
In her keynote “Think Bigger: Mastering Innovation”, Sheena Iyengar will enlighten the audience on mastering innovation and the thinking process behind it. We often think great ideas are only for the few lucky ones who go on to build something amazing that we learn about in school, but Sheena wants to challenge that myth.
Understanding the decision-making process is a great start for supercharging innovation. It has been scientifically proven that when given too many options, the decision-making process becomes halted. It’s too difficult to pick with too many options. Sheena will present us her years-long research on choice and present science-backed insights into both the innate and learned factors that influence how, and why, we make decisions. The audience will learn how to use practical tools to unlock new, efficient avenues for generating, identifying and cultivating the best ideas to creatively problem-solve and innovate.
