Vattenfall for a Fossil-Free Future

Our partner, Vattenfall, has begun a sustainable journey to a fossil-free world, in which it supports its customers in the transformation process. The global trend is clearly leaning away from fossil fuels toward renewables, and many customers want to follow suit by choosing renewable energy. Consumers are placing an increasing importance on environmental sustainability that cannot be ignored — and engaging in corporate social responsibility adds value to businesses.

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. The world is in urgent need of alternative and cleaner ways of powering and heating homes, industries and cities. Vattenfall has defined its purpose as “Power Climate Smarter Living”. This means it is committed to accelerating and enabling people to live climate-smart lives. The company aims to become 100% fossil-free within one generation, which means that it is phasing out fossil fuel production and investing in renewables instead, specifically wind and increasingly in solar.

Reduce Climate Impact

Vattenfall is committed to reducing its climate impact across its entire value chain, with a special focus on helping customers and partners lower their emissions and reach their climate targets. The company has expanded its product offering to household and business customers to enable them to lower their footprint and/or produce energy themselves. This autumn, they launched Vattenfall InHouse, a new smart energy service for tenant-owner housing associations and property owners in the Swedish market.

One example of efforts to achieve greater decentralization and customer centricity can be seen in the launch of their Powerpeers website in the Netherlands, which is a platform that allows small-scale, local energy producers and consumers to make neighbor-to-neighbor exchanges of local renewable energy. Other examples include low-CO2 heat and electricity, e-vehicle charging solutions, solar roofs, heat pumps and more. We strive to provide transparency on the climate footprint of our products through life cycle assessments and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Vattenfall is also cooperating with energy-intensive businesses to reduce CO2 emissions through the electrification of industrial processes.

Customer Centricity

Vattenfall is focused strongly on improving and simplifying the customer experience, ranging from how customers obtain information and sign contracts, to understanding their energy costs, paying bills, and receiving customer support. To improve in this area, the company has expanded to new digital platforms and created online tools and mobile apps to ensure that their services are conveniently accessible to customers.
