Did you hear yet? Our Speaker Contest is back for the fourth time! The winner of the contest will rise on stage to give a keynote in front of thousands of business leaders in Helsinki, Oslo, and Amsterdam in September 2023. They will also get compensated for their work with a speaking fee of 50,000€ for the three events. Are you the aspiring speaker we are looking for? Last year we received over 300 applications for the Speaker Contest, and this year again we expect the competition to be fierce. How to stand out from the crowd?
Tips for Standing Out With Your Application
Have a clear message
Even if you have multiple excellent ideas you wish to share, it’s best to focus on just one. Choose the topic of your speech based on our themes, which are leadership, innovation, and sustainability. Try not to get sidetracked, but keep the idea of your topic clear, concise, and of course, inspiring!
Focus on your delivery
What you say is just as important as how you say it. Make sure you deliver your key points in a way that is interesting and easy to understand. Your video pitch is your chance to impress us, and leave us wanting more!
Ask for feedback
Before sending in your application, ask for feedback from your friends, family, and colleagues. It’s easy to become blind to your own work, so make sure they understand your key points. This is also a great chance to practice your speech. After all, if you are too shy to speak in front of people who know you, how are you going to get on stage in front of thousands of people who don’t know you?
Get inspired by the greats
Who are the speakers that inspire you? What is it about them? Watch the speeches of other great speakers, such as our past winners, Duncan Wardle, Anssi Rantanen, and James Hewitt. Take some tips from them on how to deliver an influential speech. No need to try and mimic anyone else though, we definitely want to see YOU and your personal style! You know what you are an expert on already? Being you. There is no one else who is as good at being you, as you are. You have practiced all your life. We want to see the authentic you, so don’t be shy about letting your personality shine through in your application. After all, that is what makes you unique and interesting.
